Chapter 4
She was silent all the way back to the temple. At first
she paced the ground angrily, the power that came off her in waves, palpable
in the air. No one dared approach her.
Eventually she calmed down and sat quietly on the steps
of the temple’s main building staring up at moon. It was late now and although
her parents had only a vague idea where she was she hadn’t called them. But
she didn’t feel she could play the part of Mommy and Daddy’s little girl at
the moment.
It had been hours now and her friends had yet to say
anything to her. She thought she’d wanted their silence but now as she sat
just staring into space it weighed so heavily in the air it was as loud as
any questions they might have asked. They were trying too hard to respect
her privacy but she knew they had a thousand questions, many of which she
doubted she even wanted to answer.
“Ok already, you might as well ask,” she muttered. “Your
silence is so annoying I can actually hear your thoughts buzzing in
my head. And no Mina I have not slept with him yet.”
Mina’s eyes opened so wide it was almost comical. “How
did you know what I was thinking?”
“Like I said,” Usagi stated simply. “You’re all thinking
very loudly and in your case very sexually.” Mina blushed, embarrassed. “And
it seems you’re not the only one.” She glared at Rei who didn’t look the slightest
bit embarrassed.
“You can actually hear our thoughts?” Makoto questioned
incredulously.
“Yeah, vaguely, one of those things I recalled how to
do when I remembered everything else.”
“You remember everything from the Silver Millennium?”
Ami asked.
“Like it were yesterday,” Usagi whispered painfully.
“So you know what we’re thinking,” Rei commented.
“What are you thinking?” Usagi’s mind was working overtime and it was
visible by the constantly changing emotions on her face.
“That I don’t know what he wants from me,” she replied.
“I can’t believe he did all these things to me out of some twisted need to
torture me in revenge for something that happened so long ago it’s ancient
history.”
If he’d wanted real revenge he could have had it at anytime,
she thought to herself. It would have been easy to rape or kill her in her
sleep. Instead he’d sent youmas just to annoy her, it seemed now, and had
been toying with her not out of anger but just to provoke her.
“But like you said you remember it like it were yesterday.”
“Yeah,” Usagi whispered bitterly. “I remember all right.
“I remember he risked his life to save mine even though
he knew it was pointless; even after I betrayed him. He tried to save my life
when it came down to the final battle.”
“Why did you leave him Usagi? You loved him didn’t you?”
Mina questioned.
“Mael,” she answered as if the one word were the answer
to everything.
“I had an argument with Endymion about our relationship
and I got angry and unthinkingly transported myself back to my rooms on the
moon without getting dressed and Mael was standing there in my bedrooms when
I reappeared and he was laying on my bed just looking at me naked in this
perverse manner. He’d seen when I’d left and he’d found out about Endymion
by reading my letters. I still remember his exact words. “So the perfect princess
turns out to be a little slut. I bet you couldn’t wait to spread your legs
for some crude primitive Earth prince.”
“Bastard!” Mako snapped supportively.
“I don’t understand,” Mina claimed. “Why would you choose
him over Endymion?”
“Mael knew I’d broken the contract. Under that contract
I was subject to the laws of his people as well as my own. Under his law I
could be publicly beaten and forced to pay him the amount of my dowry and
if I refused or if I broke the contract myself and they happened to feel insulted,
they could set off a war.
In addition to
that fact, as long as Earth and the Moon didn’t see eye-to-eye we were basically
enemies. There wasn’t a full scale war going on but there had been ‘incidents.’ I could be accused of treason under Lunarian
law and that could unbalance affairs in the solar system since I was the only
heir to the throne.”
“But if he knew you’d betrayed him wouldn’t he be in
a hurry to break it off and let you suffer?”
“If his kingdom and his planet had been a wealthy one….
probably. However, my dowry was enormous but it was a drop in the bucket compared
to the luxury he would enjoy for himself, in addition to my dowry, if he kept
to the betrothal. Besides being able to blackmail me for the duration of our
marriage was a lot more power than he might have had just being Queen’s consort.”
“Endymion didn’t know,” Mina stated flatly.
“No. He’s a stubborn bastard anyway. I doubt it would
have made any difference.”
“I think I know what both your problems were,” Mina said.
“You both had your heads in the ‘right’ place. You put your kingdoms first
and your love second. But I guess love is giving you a second chance and an
opportunity to think with your hearts instead of your head.”
Usagi chuckled dryly. Whatever happened between them
wouldn’t be a result of thoughts coming from either of their hearts or their
heads.
“Endymion doesn’t love me. Like he said, he’s had Millennia
to get over whatever feelings he may have had.”
“And yet he’d still like to…well you know,” Ami stated
blushing. When everyone turned to smile at her she added: “Well it seems illogical
to be able to get over one thing so easily and yet not the other. It’s been
a long time.”
“She’s right.
He’s been watching you for a while and you said he came to visit you a few
times and he seems to like …”
“Rei!” Usagi screeched indignantly. His words came back
to her and her face turned bright red. ‘I’ll wait until we’re alone Serenity.
Then you’ll remember what it is like to have me inside you.’ Next time
he wasn’t going to be content just to touch her and if history repeated itself
she probably wouldn’t try to stop him.
“I was only trying to say…”
“He’s been visiting you?” Mina screeched incredulously.
“And you didn’t say anything!”
Usagi hung her head in exasperation. She recalled immediately
exactly why she had played innocent so long ago on the moon kingdom. There
was no way she could have trusted her friends to be calm and rational about
this. They would have been all over the story and whether they meant to or
not someone would have found out.
She’d done a brilliant job of being almost two completely
different people. So well did she play the part of the innocent, that she’d
felt almost disgusted with herself for her ability to lie like a pro and be
almost two completely different people. It had made her question just what
kind of person she was. She’d never believed she’d grow to be anyone as great
and wonderful as her mother had been.
“I didn’t say
anything because I thought it was a dream,” She informed calmly.
“A wet dream,” Rei muttered below her breath, but it
was quiet enough in the room that no one missed it.
“Rei Hino!” Usagi screeched.
“You might have left out all the intimate details but
it was perfectly clear by your bright red face just exactly what your ghostly
little visitor was doing. The question is just how far did he go?”
“That is none of your business,” Usagi announced.
“Oh come on Usagi,” Makoto begged. “You told Rei. Why
don’t you tell us?”
Usagi sighed. She could tell the other girls felt slightly
hurt by the fact that she hadn’t confided them.
“Well the short version of it is that he’s been following
me all week causing strange things to happen, including that letter, and he
played at being the psychologist.”
“Sometimes at
night, and well that one time in class…” She paused, blushing brightly. “I
thought I was dreaming the first time but the last time he was definitely
there and he…”
“Felt you up,” Rei finished, causing Usagi a great deal
more embarrassment than she had dreamt possible and causing the other girls
look at her incredulously.
“Must you be so blunt?” Usagi snapped.
“Is there another way to be? ”
“So when are you two going to…well you know?” Makoto
questioned.
“What makes you think I want to?” Usagi snapped.
“Well you two were practically all over each other not
too long ago,” Mina commented.
Could things possibly get more embarrassing she wondered?
She could easily recall their near sexual moment down by the warehouse right
in front of her friends.
“That does not mean that I want to…” She sighed.
“I shouldn’t anyways.”
“Why not?” Mina asked inquisitively.
“Because he’s being a real prick and his only agenda
is to hurt me,” she sneered. “It doesn’t really matter anyway,” she sighed.
“What do you mean?” Rei asked.
“He’s not exactly giving me a choice,” she stated through
gritted teeth.
Ami’s face went pale. “You don’t mean he’s going to…?”
“No, he won’t rape me,” she answered Ami’s unfinished
question. “He won’t have to,” she
added self-deprecatingly. Ami’s face flushed and eyebrows raised all around.
“Don’t even dare ask me what that means!” she snapped
huffily. “I refuse to explain that.”
“I get it,” Mina
announced brilliantly. “He’s irresistible!”
“And gorgeous,” Rei added.
“And sexy,” Mako put in.
“And dangerous. You have a thing for dangerous men,”
Ami stated.
“I do not!” Usagi denied.
“Usagi, Motoki
became the hottest man alive the moment he started racing cars,” Mako countered.
“And remember Naru’s cousin Yuu the rock climber and bungee jumper? You had
the hots for him.”
“That’s your big proof?” Usagi screeched incredulously.
“Well Endymion is an evil lord of the Dark Kingdom and
you want him,” Mina argued.
“He’s not evil,” Usagi snapped to his defense, “just
a really big asshole.”
“Usagi he tried to kill you!”
“Not exactly. And he saved my life.”
“If he lets you die he doesn’t get laid,” Rei stated.
Usagi refrained from comment on that remark but glared
at Rei. “If he really wanted to kill me he wouldn’t have let me know who he
was he’d just have killed me at anytime in my bedroom, while he was busy ‘feeling
me up,’ as you put it.”
“Well if he’s trying to get revenge, most likely he’d
want to make sure you knew exactly who he was and why he was going to kill
you,” Ami reasoned.
Usagi shook her head. “That would make sense except for
one thing. The moment I realized who I was and who he was, the playing ground
became level. As long as I didn’t know the full extent of my powers or what
he was capable of, he could use it against me. There is no real way for him
to kill me easily at this point, we are both equally powerful once you toss
the silver crystal out of the equation.”
“What do you mean? Why would you go head to head with
him without the silver crystal as a back up?” Makoto asked.
“As I told you, Endymion isn’t evil. I couldn’t really
do him too much harm with the silver crystal if I wanted to, not enough to
swing things in my favor anyway. He has a slight advantage being on his planet
but we know everything about each other and it would make fighting pretty
pointless.”
“I understand when you say he isn’t evil,” Rei said.
“I sensed that myself. But if he isn’t, why is he working for the Dark Kingdom?”
“I don’t know,” Usagi admitted. “Although, knowing him,
he probably has the Dark Kingdom working for him.”
Rei frowned. “The controlling type huh?”
Usagi smiled. “Yeah. I guess that’s why we always argued.
He never could control me. I think it used to drive him up the wall and turn
him on.”
“Usagi!” Ami screeched with embarrassment.
“What! You guys can talk about my sex life and I can’t?”
“I thought you didn’t have a sex life,” Rei teased.
“Oh shut up!”
Usagi lay in bed staring up at the exposed beams of the
ceiling. She had eventually given in and called her parents letting them know
where she was and that she’d decided to stay. She had impatiently sat through
a rather annoying lecture on responsibility that made her feel like an immature
child. There would be some drawbacks to remembering her past. Back then she’d
been a little older and a lot more mature and as royalty and possibly the
second most powerful person in the solar system, entirely responsible for
her own actions.
Princess Serenity, at least the princess who’d had an
affair with Endymion, was more her than Her Serene Royal Highness or
Usagi Tsukino. She’d never felt more herself than she did right now. Endymion’s
Serenity was self-assured, daring, passionate, and attentive. It was strange
that even so long ago she’d never been herself for her friends and family.
The only time she’d really felt free to be unrestrained had been when she
was with him.
Usagi turned her head to her right where a few feet away
Rei was breathing heavily as she slept. In a far left corner Makoto and Mina
snored softly. Ami had gone home. She hadn’t admitted to her friends why she
had chosen to spend the night but she had an inkling they could guess.
She was trying to avoid him, or rather the fulfillment
of his promise. Had this threat been made a few thousand years ago she might
have run home stripped off her clothes and waited for him, but things had
changed and Endymion didn’t seem to realize that. She might just have rediscovered
the part of herself he remembered but she was barely sixteen years old and
she was a virgin all over again. She was nervous and very afraid of being
hurt.
She had been mentally preparing herself for what seemed
inevitable but she already knew he would hurt her. The physical pain of losing
her virginity was negligible but it hurt to know he was doing it all for revenge.
When it was all over where would they be? Would he just occasionally pop in
and out of her bed for the rest of her life or would he make sure she got
attached to him before he walked out of her life forever leaving her to suffer
the expected pain of his departure?
She could fight him but where would that lead? Wouldn’t
they just destroy public and private property in an attempt to hurt each other?
That was the last thing either of them wanted and it would be a passionless
fight since the fact that she wanted him as much as he wanted her was undeniable.
She didn’t want it this way however. But she supposed
that’s what revenge was all about. She didn’t get to have it her way.
She suspected, for all her effort that staying with her
friends would change nothing. He hadn’t seemed to care much for spectators
earlier when he had his hands all over her. Her body flushed hot with embarrassment
and her eyes went wide in the dark with fear at the thought of him making
love to her while her friends slept just a few feet away. Well they wouldn’t
be sleeping long, she admitted to herself wryly.
It was almost two in the morning when finally she gave
up on the thought of him accosting her and decided to relax and sleep. She had been silly to think he would be so
predictable as to come to her tonight. Perhaps she flattered herself to think
his desires were so desperate that he would come to her so quickly.
But think of the devil and he appears, or so goes the
saying. And that’s how she found herself to be wide-awake when he materialized
above her. She almost smiled at his predictability and restrained herself
from saying as much out loud. By what she could see of his face in the dark
however, she knew he’d picked the thought right out of her head.
I’m not a patient man, She picked up from him.
“Did you think surrounding yourself with your friends
would stop me?” He asked softly.
“I was hoping to appeal to your sense of decency. One
would hope it would occur to you to wait until I was alone.”
“I have no need to protect my sense of decency and I
care little for yours.”
As if to illustrate his point he cupped her crotch through
her underwear, causing her eyes to go wide. He took advantage of her moment
of surprise and covered her unresisting mouth with his. He moved the free
hand that wasn’t helping him hold his weight off her from her crotch and slipped
it under the oversized T-shirt she’d borrowed from Rei, to cover her bare
breast with his palm.
Realizing that he just might make love to her with her
friends only a few feet away she squealed in resistance against his mouth.
He chuckled quietly at her indignation.
“I take it that a bit of public display doesn’t arouse
you? It’s just as well, because if I remember correctly you make way too much
noise for us to continue here.” With that, he transported them both to an
unknown place on a bed in a room lit only by one or two candles.
“Where are we?”
“You don’t want to know.”
She wasn’t that naïve however.
“So this is the Dark Kingdom,” she stated nonchalantly,
glancing around at the darkened room. She could tell very little about it
because of the limited light. She guessed even in brighter light it would
be a dark room. “It lives up to its name.”
He said nothing but she continued. “Why do you stay here?
Why do you work for the Dark Kingdom?”
“Why do you think you can delay the inevitable?” He asked,
looking down at her.
“I’m not trying to delay anything,” she lied badly. “I
just want to know why you’re doing this?”
“I’ve been trapped inside the Dark Kingdom since the
final battle that ended the Silver Millennium. I awoke when Beryl’s hibernation
ended but was unable to free myself until you killed her.
“And why are you still here?”
“It seemed the right place to plan the ultimate practical
joke,” he replied snidely.
“You think this is a practical joke?” She whispered,
dangerously quiet. “This supposed revenge of yours? Were you always such a
bastard or was that something Beryl did to you?” She hissed.
“I’m sure you’ll enjoy my revenge.”
“Not nearly as much as you will,” She returned tersely.
“Just what do you think you’ll get out of this? Some sick satisfaction of
knowing that you won in the end and you finally had me all to yourself? Is
that it or are you still caught up in the long dead affairs of a lost kingdom?
Tell me Endymion, what the hell do you want from me?”
“Just this,” he whispered and covered her mouth again,
kissing her so thoroughly she thought her bones had melted.
He stopped for a moment to whisper in her ear. “I’m claiming
what should have been mine forever and always. I’ll never let you go Serenity,
never.”
It was as much a threat as a promise.
He reached down and pulled the material of her shirt
up above her waist. He raised it under her arms and she raised her arms to
allow him to slide it off. She lay naked beneath him looking up at him, a
silly question on her mind.
“If that’s what you want,” he replied to her unspoken
question smiling. She blushed as he rolled her with him so she was laying
atop him. She began unbuttoning his shirt slowly.
“You move way too slowly,” he groaned. He grabbed either
sides of the front of his shirt and pulled at it causing the remaining buttons
to go flying revealing his hard muscled stomach and chest for her appraisal,
which was thorough. Usagi had an easier time with his pants and wasn’t surprised
to find he wore nothing beneath. She stared for a moment at his growing hardness
with nervousness and anticipation.
“See something you like?” He asked teasingly. She blushed
deeply in response. Somewhere inside she was as much an innocent teenage girl
as she was an experienced woman.
He pulled her down to him and kissed her lightly on the
lips and she took control and kissed him passionately. He rolled her back
unto her back. For a moment he simply looked down at her casting appreciative
eye over her entire body, which flushed a brighter shade in response.
To her surprise and delight he lowered his head to her
full breasts and teased one nipple with his tongue. He caressed her other
breast with his free hand before moving lower to caress the soft flesh between
her thighs. Usagi’s back arched beneath the pleasure his mouth and hands created.
His body eased over her, settling between her separated
legs. She could feel his hardness pressing against her warm center. He looked
down into her eyes and instinctively she wrapped her legs around his hips
as he pressed into her.
The expected pain was minimal as he eased into her slowly.
She was amazed at the fullness that was as alien to her body as it was familiar
to her mind. Her eyes opened and she let out an involuntary gasp as he began
to move within her bringing her closer to fulfillment.
She had thought she might shatter when eventually her
release came and she heard him shout her name. She shuddered with pleasure
and the always-surprising reality that such a thing existed. She stopped being
surprised for the night and simply reveled in the feeling after experiencing
it another three times, or was it four?
